A 20th century oil painting on board of A Forest Path by Léon Houyoux (Belgian, 1856-1940) signed Leon Houyoux (lower left) and presented in a hand-painted bamboo frame.
At the age of 19 Houyoux attended the Academie van Brussel and completed his education in Paris, Munich, Dresden and Berlin. He made his debut in 1881 at the Brussels Salon and was a Member of L' Essor. His work is included in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Belgium.
In 1922, the Belgian Post issued a series of stamps featuring the head of King Albert 1 (1875-1934), designed by Léon Houyoux.
