This is a lovely large period Regency papier maché tray on later carved wood stand. Simple curved edge but lavishly decorated with hand painted gilt highlights. The best quality so it's unsurprising to see the maker's stamp Clay of King St Covent Garden London beneath. Widely regarded as peerless in the making and decorating of papier maché. An antique repair to one corner using staples is near invisible. Otherwise in good condition with fresh decoration.
